2023 Men’s NCAA Championships: Days 1 & 2 Pick’Em Contest Scoring Update

2023 NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first two finals sessions of the 2023 Men’s NCAA Championships are done and it’s time to see how the SwimSwam Pick’Em Contest results are shaping up after three relays and three individual events.

The biggest upset for Pick’Ems users so far was NC State winning the 200 medley relay on night one, a feat that only seven people predicted. For context, only seven people didn’t correctly pick Leon Marchand to win the 200 IM.

User “Hill Taylor’s dirty undies” is the top scorer so far with 82 points. They didn’t expect NC State to place in the top four in the medley relay, but correctly picked Texas and ASU to place 1-2 the 800 free relay. They were also spot on with their picks for the winners of every individual race on night two. They racked up major points by predicting places 1-4 in the 200 IM and they knew that Jordan Crooks would win the 50 free followed by Josh Liendo.

Despite NC State’s relay surprise, the 2023 Men’s NCAA Championships are still slightly more predictable to Pick’Ems users so far than the women’s meet where no one predicted Alabama’s Kensey McMahon to place in the top three of the 500 free, let alone win the event.

Day 1 & 2 Finals Event Winners

  • 200 medley relay – NC State
  • 800 free relay – Texas
  • 500 free – Luke Hobson, Texas
  • 200 IM – Leon Marchand, ASU
  • 50 free – Jordan Crooks, Tennessee
  • 200 free relay – Florida

Notable Results

  • Only seven people picked NC State to win the 200 medley relay
  • 575 entrants (98.8 percent of people) picked Leon Marchand to win the 200 IM. Only seven people did not
  • Another well-predicted event was the 200 free relay where 548 people, 94 percent of users, picked Florida to win
  • 35 people predicted Hobson would win the 500 free, although 81 people thought he would place second
  • 526 people cashed in on their points when Jordan Crooks earned first place in the 50 free

Behind day 1 and 2 top scorer “Hill Taylor’s dirty undies” is “aznswimmaboi12” in second place with 80 points. SwimSwam’s James Sutherland is our top staff scorer so far in 96th place.
