How Everyone Did
If you go by the pick’em picks, it was a night full of upsets.
Ella Eastin won the 400 IM by a large margin, surprising a large percentage of pick’em contestants. 89% picked Katie Ledecky to repeat her Pac 12 championship. Only 11% had Eastin winning.
Louise Hansson’s win in the 100 fly was also an upset. 72% of entries picked runner up Erika Brown winning, and 21% picked Hansson.
The favorite pulled out the win in the 200 free. 73% had Comerford winning that event, but the consensus 2nd and 3rd place picks (Simone Manuel 68% second, Sibohan Haughey 73% 3rd) swapped places. Katie Drabot was a bit of an outsider for 4th, appearing in only 8% of people’s top 4’s.
Lilly King was a near unanimous favorite in the 100 breast, and she delivered. The top picks for 2nd (Miranda Tucker 57%) and 3rd (Lindsey Kozelsky 43%) also panned out.
Ally Howe, the American record holder, was only picked to win by 5% of entries. There were 3 athletes more picked to win than her, Kathleen Baker (72% picker her to win, she was 3rd), Jante Hu (15%, 5th), and Beata Nelson (9%, 2nd). Elise Haan, who was 4th, appeared in only 7% of top 4s.
Stanford were the 3rd most popular team to win the 200 medley relay, picked to win by 14% of all entries. Texas A&M were a bit of a surprise at 4th, with only 13% placing them in the top 4. They benefited from 4th place favorite Tennessee’s odd mistake in their morning swim.

Standings
At the mid point of the pick’em updates, we now have a separate daily leader board and overall leader board. The daily winner was FightMilkChuggz who scored 77 points. They were followed by William Campbell with 74 and Faraway mama with 73.
SHUStark did enough to maintain their overall lead, ending the day with 146 points. The rest of the top 5 are US Kiwi with 143, Faraway mama with 141, FightMilkChuggz with 128, and tnp101 with 101. With the points for both the individual events, and most importantly, the team scores still to come tomorrow, there is a lot of potential for a major shakeup in the overall standings.
