2016 NCAA Division III Championships – Day 2 Ups/Downs

Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Women’s Ups/Downs

And all of a sudden we’ve got a ballgame. The diving portion of “swimming and diving” took to the boards on Day Two and Kenyon came out the morning’s big winner. The Ladies placed one diver, four swimmers, and both relays in A finals and two swimmers in B finals. Emory missed qualifying their diver but went four swimmers up, two down, and got both relays in A finals.

Johns Hopkins had an enormous morning, significantly outscoring expectations in both relays, the 100 fly, and 200 IM. Williams, Wash U and Chicago also had successful outings.

Below are the Ups (“A” finalists) / Downs (“B” finalists) for Day 2:

Men’s Ups/Downs

Kenyon led the field with 8 individual finalists (4 up and 4 down) and both relays in the top 8. Denison had 3 up, 3 down and two A relays. The Big Red has the advantage of three top-8 divers, though.

The College of New Jersey had an enormous morning, outscoring the psych sheet by 40 points with performances in the 200 free and both relays, and especially the 200 free relay. Johns Hopkins, Keene State, and Emory also were net positive for the morning.
