After the final prelims session at the 2016 men’s ACC Championships, NC State is poised to take the ACC title with 9 championship finalists in tonight’s session and 15 finalists overall. NC State currently has 928 points and sits in the lead over Louisville (792.5). Louisville is bringing back the 2nd highest number of A-finalists, getting 7 swimmers into the top 8 this morning. UNC has the 3rd most with 4. This doesn’t include diving or the 1650.
Virginia Tech (688) and UNC (659.5) are in a tight battle for 3rd, and the Tarheels will look to capitalize off of their 4 ups, 3 mids, and 2 downs to move ahead into 3rd place. Virginia Tech has 2 ups, 2 mids, and 4 downs.
Georgia Tech (518) and Virginia (515) are separated by just 3 points for 5th place and we could see a close race between them for a top 5 spot. Each have 2 championship finalists, but Georgia Tech has a higher number of finalists overall.
These up/mids/downs don’t reflect diving or the 1650 that will be held later today.
