Sacramento, California’s Katie McIntee will remain in-state for her collegiate swimming career; she gave a verbal commitment to the San Jose State Spartans for 2016-17. McIntee swims with Davis Arden Racing Team at Arden Hills, and for the all-girls St. Francis High School in Sacramento. At California’s 2015 Sac-Joaquin Section Championship, McIntee tied for fifth in the 100 free and was 11th in the 200 free, with best times in both events.
McIntee’s best performances over the last two seasons have been:
SCY | LCM | |
50 free | 24.97 | 28.46 |
100 free | 53.00 | 1:01.69 |
200 free | 1:53.64 | 2:12.45 |
500 free | 5:06.77 | 4:41.38 |
100 fly | 1:01.95 | 1:11.89 |
San Jose State is rebuilding after two difficult years that followed a two-year run at the top of the Mountain West Conference. McIntee is just outside of conference scoring range for the moment (it took 51.2 and 1:51.5 to make finals in the 100/200 frees, respectively, in 2015), but she has the potential to add firepower to individual and relay events if she continues to progress as she did in long course season. McIntee dropped .4/.3/1.4 in the 50/100/200m freestyles over the summer.
