Lajunen Finishes Finnish Championships With a Win in the 200 Freestyle

After winning the 400, 800 and 1500 freestyle Laura Lajunen returned to the pool on the final day of competition at the Finnish Championships to win the women’s 200 freestyle. Lajunen took the event in a time of 2:03.12, 64 one-hundredths of a second ahead of Aino Otava who finished second in a time of 2:03.76.

Jenna Laukkanen won the women’s 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:29.01 eight seconds ahead of the rest of the competitors. Laukkanen was off her season’s best and Finnish record time of 2:27.53. Veera Kivirinta kept her from sweeping the breaststroke events taking the 50 on the second day of the competition.

Christoffer Fredrikson also destroyed the field in the men’s 200 backstroke winning the event in a time of 2:03.10 over four seconds ahead of the field.

Tessa Nurinen took the women’s 50 freestyle in a time of 25.59. Nurinen grabbed the gold away from Finnish record holder Hanna-Maria Seppala who finished second in a time of 25.71. Mimosa Jallow took the bronze in a time of 25.88.

Jallow also won the gold in the women’s 50 backstroke posting a time of 28.80.

Noora Laukkanen took the women’s 100 butterfly in a close race with Nea Norismaa. Laukkanen posted a time of 1:01.50 followed by Norismaa who touched in a time of 1:01.62.

Andrei Tuomola won the men’s 100 freestyle in a time of 50.93 while Sami Aaltomaa took the men’s 50 breaststroke in a time of 27.72.

Kalle Pyykkonen won the men’s 200 butterfly in a time of 2:07.15 while Eetu Piiroinen won the men’s 1500 freestyle in a time of 15:52.03.
