The Naples News is reporting that University of Florida has picked up a verbal commitment for 2016-17 from Alex Farrow, a senior at Seacrest Country Day High School in Naples, Florida. After receiving an early verbal last February from top swimming recruit Maxime Rooney, the Gators are adding to their diving prowess with in-state standout Farrow as the recruiting season gets into full swing for the high school class of 2016.
Farrow finished third with 452 points in the boys’ diving event at the 2014 FHSAA Class 1A Championships last November. As a sophomore, he scored 370.60 points for seventh place; he took 12th with 360 points as a freshman.
The Gator men won the 2015 SEC Championships by 180 points over Georgia without scoring a single point in diving. Farrow will be counted on to fill the void left when All-American Zach Hernandez, currently a redshirt senior, graduates after the 2015-16 season.
By the way, the divers did score at SEC in 2015. In fact they had 2 divers that scored on all 3 boards.
