The draw for the 2020 European Water Polo Championships was staged this evening in Budapest where teams will clash for the European title in January.
Loyola Marymount’s Blazo Mitrovic, Iona’s Patrick Hudak and Salem’s Milos Popovic each turned in an 8-goal effort on Week 7 of men’s water polo action.
Water Polo was approved today as a pilot program at the high school level by the UIL Legislative Council in Texas, with play to begin in Fall 2021.
Six upsets highlighted the Week 7 slate, including a Top 10 result that saw #6 Pepperdine edge past #4 USC and two surprise results for RV Brown.
The Saturday part of the second round in the Champions League brought four one-sided matches. The eight Group B team combined for 101 goals.
Offences were at their best as Friday brought 96 goals in four Champions League Group A matches, including 28 in a match between Jug and Barceloneta.

The lone Top 10 upset saw #7 Pepperdine edge out #6 Cal 13-12 in overtime on the road Saturday. It marked the Waves first win of the Bears since 2008.
After the conclusion of the men’s qualifications for the 2020 European Water Polo Championships, the same field awaits the draw as in 2018.
