Loudonville, NY – The Wagner College swimming and diving team earned a 162-128 victory over Siena on Saturday to stay undefeated against non-conference competition on the season and improve to 5-1 in dual meets.
Overall, the Seahawks won nine events on the day.
Wagner’s 200 Medley Relay, consisting of senior Emily Moore, sophomore Judith Desforges, graduate student Dorian McMenemy, and freshman Hannah Muro earned the win in 1:51.23.
The 200 Free Relay, featuring Desforges, McMenemy, Muro, and freshman Frederikke Mertins touched first in 1:39.12.
Mertins also earned two individual victories, touching first in the 100 Back (1:00.22) and 100 Free (55.44).
Fellow first-year Seahawk Raquel Reyes also picked up two victories, finishing first in the 1000 Free (10:47.94) and 500 Free (5:17.21).
Sophomore standout Ellie Eastwood touched first in the 200 IM (2:11.71), while McMenemy won the 50 Free in 25.10. Freshman Maile Mora rounded out the Seahawks’ victories with a first-place finish in the 200 Breast (2:30.50)
Next up, Wagner will travel to New Britain, CT for the second time this season to compete in the CCSU Invite from November 22-24.

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Nine different members of Siena Swimming & Diving (1-3) put forth a best time Saturday afternoon, as the team fell in its 2019-20 home opener. The Saints were defeated by Wagner (6-1), 162-128, but took home seven individual event wins in the process.
Freshman Lydia DeLano led the Saints’ home charge, taking first place in the 1 meter & 3-meter diving events for the second straight meet, posting a best result (230.65) in the 1 meter in the process. DeLano was joined by classmates Lauren Ostrander (200 free) and Jessica Shine (100 fly) in winning events as freshman on the day, with Ostrander doing so for the first time in her collegiate career.
Accompanying the rookie trio in winning events for the Green and Gold during the meet were sophomores Abigail Sheridan (200 fly) and Isabel Harms (200 back), as well as junior Shannon Leary (100 breast). Harms and Sheridan came just tenths of a second away from setting best times in their respective events.
Entering the meet having dominated the majority of its previous competition, Wagner took five of the meets first seven events before the first intermission and walked away with the top spot in both the 200-yard medley and 200 yard free relay events.
Among the Saints who displayed best times were nine of team’s 10 freshman. Ostrander did so in the 100 free (56.11), 200 free (2:00.11) and 500 free (5:23.99), while Maggie Caputo (100 breast & 200 back), Reilly King (500 free & 1000 free) and Jessica Shine (100 free & 200 free) did so in two events apiece.
Siena’s Fall 2019 slate continues next Saturday, when the team heads south for in-conference double dual meet action. The Saints will face MAAC rivals Manhattan & Monmouth in West Long Branch, NJ on Saturday, Nov. 16, with the first race set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
