Brooklyn, NY- The Wagner men’s and women’s swimming team earned victories over Long Island University and Manhattan on Saturday.
Wagner’s women’s team defeated Northeast Conference (NEC) foe LIU 136.00-126.00 while earning a 222.00-32.00 victory over Manhattan. For the men’s team, they defeated Long Island University 166.00-95.00 while on the other hand came out victorious against Manhattan 217-40.
For the women’s team, sophomore Rebekka Luoto earned first place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:53.65 as well as earning first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.25. Luoto also won first place in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.50.
Freshman Gaya Savaran won first place in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.59 and captured first place in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:07.83. On the other hand, freshman Mia Goodale won first place in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.86. Graduate Allie D’Allegro was also victorious as she won first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.53. Lastly, in the women’s 400-yard freestyle relay Wagner came out with the victory that was led by Mia Goodale, Allie D’Allegro, freshman Lovisa Ramsten, and Rebekka Luoto.
On the men’s side, freshman Florian Schumich came out on top in the 100-yard backstroke in 51.75. Schumich also won first place in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:56.87.
Freshman Max Wameling earned first place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.86. Junior, Joel Knappi won first place in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.62. Sophomore, Nikko Carrillo won first place in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:55.22. Another sophomore Adrian Andres Moreno won first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.64. Lastly, graduate Enrico Mancardo won first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.24.
The Seahawks won the 200-yard medley relay that was led by Nikko Carrillo, Adrian Andres Moreno, sophomore Manuel Villalpando, and graduate Enrico Mancardo finishing in 1:33.12. The men’s team also won the 400-yard freestyle relay that was led by Enrico Mancardo, Joel Knappi, sophomore Senan Noonan, and Max Wameling finishing in 3:33.05.
Wagner will return to action November 21st at Rhode Island University in Kingston, Rhode Island.
