ORONO, Maine – Senior captain Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.), sophomore Ella Guilfoil (Fairport, N.Y.) and sophomore Carolyn Nelson (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) each won two events as the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team defeated Maine, 180-120, in the Border Battle presented by Buffalo Wilds Wings at Stanley M. Wallace Pool.
The Wildcats, who won 12 of the 16 events, conclude the regular season with an outstanding 6-1 (2-0 America East) record, while the Black Bears fall to 2-3 (0-2 America East).
UP NEXT:
- The Wildcats will return to action at the America East Championships at VMI Aquatic Center in Lexington, Va., from Feb. 14-17. Last season, the Wildcats won their fourth straight America East Championship and 11th overall. This was the first time in program history that UNH had won four in a row. The Wildcats have a league-record 11 championships (1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- McKinney won the 50 free (24.90) and 100 fly (57.94), while Guilfoil took the 200 fly (2:07.10) and 200 IM (2:08.18), and Nelson captured the 500 free (5:14.82) and 1000 free (10:35.76).
- Freshman Grace Blume (Dedham, Mass.) recorded the top score in the three-meter diving event with a career-best 270.00 to earn the win.
- Junior captain Chiara Maria Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) placed first in the 200 free (1:57.05), sophomore Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) won the 100 free (53.41) and freshman Izzie Campion (Auckland, New Zealand) posted the win in the 200 back (2:09.60).
- The 200 medley relay team of Guilfoil, freshman Emily Wright (Ventura, Calif.), McKinney and Mahoney opened the meet with a winning time of 1:47.54.
- The 200 free relay team of Mahoney, Pradissitto, freshman Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.) and McKinney concluded the meet by posting a first-place time of 1:38.48.

Orono, Maine — The University of Maine women’s swimming & diving team fell by a final of 180-120 to New Hampshire in the Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Friday evening at Wallace Pool.
Kayla Loughman paced Maine with a pair of victories as she swept the breaststroke events with a winning time of 1:05.83 in the 100-yard breaststroke and a first place mark of 2:24.06 in the 200 breaststroke.
Maine swept the podium in the 100 breaststroke with Aubrey St. Pierre taking the silver at 1:08.15 and Laura Dube adding a third place finish at 1:08.28. Dube also placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:31.10.
Madison Edwards touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.49.
Mia Poirier finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:58.03) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:00.99). Kennady Kilger came home second in the 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 25.02 and placed third in the 100 free at 54.48.
Marlee Canale added a runner-up showing in the 200 backstroke (2:13.06) and a third place mark in the 200 IM (2:15.15) while Isabelle Irani was second in the 100 fly at 59.07.
Ashley LeClaire won the 1-meter dive with a score of 265.20 while Haylie Calver took silver in the 3m at 264.15.
Maine’s team of Edwards, Loughman, Irani, and Kilger finished second in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:49.09 while Loughman, Hannah Deighan, Carmen Braden and Kilger teamed up to take second in the 200 free relay with a final time of 1:38.67.
