UIC Flames looking for new head coach as Moniak’s contract expires

The University of Illinois – Chicago is in the market for a new head coach for their men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs.

Athletics Director Jim Schmidt announced last week that head coach Paul Moniak‘s contract will not be renewed. Schmidt’s original announcement of the contract and statement thanking Moniak for his years of service has been removed from the UIC website, but the athletic department did confirm Moniak would be announcing his resignation next month. Moniak just wrapped up his 13th season with the Flames. The Athletic Department declined to give further information and Moniak could not be reached for comment.

UIC recently finished 3rd on the men’s side and 5th on the women’s at the Horizon League Championships. They’ll look to make a future run at Oakland, the newcomers who swept the men’s and women’s conference titles this year and look to be a potential new powerhouse of the Horizon League.
