Team USA Swimmers Conclude Parapan Ams with 3 Bronze Medals

Toronto – Team USA wrapped up the final night of swimming competition with three bronze medals, bring its medal tally for the 2015 Parapan American Games competition to a total of 32.

Zachary Shattuck (Mt. Airy, Maryland) started off the podium appearances during the morning session with a bronze medal win in the men’s 100-meter backstroke S6 (1:35.14). Shattuck also took home a silver medal in the mixed 4×50 freestyle relay 20 pts earlier in the week.

“This isn’t my main event,” Shattuck stated. “Backstroke is something I have been practicing a lot. I’m honored to be out there and see the flag raised in my first international medal.”

“I joined my college swim team this year and they have been incredible. All the people at the USOC and the team have been so amazing and helpful to get me to where I am today; I couldn’t be more thankful.”

Reilly Boyt (Fort Collins, Colorado) took home a bronze medal in the women’s 100-meter backstroke S6 with a time of 1:38.96. Teammate Casandra Shaffer (Bend, Oregon) was not far behind her taking the fifth place spot in the same race clocking in at 1:44.36.

“I feel really good it was the last swim of the week, and I feel like I finished it off really well,” said Boyt. “It was the best time for both me and Cassandra. Just to be able to complete side-by-side, I loved it.”

The third place win marks Boyt’s fourth medal during the Parapan Ams, including a first place performance in both the women’s 200 IM S6 and women’s 100 breaststroke S6. She was also won a silver medal in the mixed 4×50 freestyle relay 20 pts.

Leslie Cichocki (Palos Hills, Illinois) finished her Parapan Ams performance with a bronze medal win in the women’s 200 IM SM14 beating out competitors with a time of 2:46.36. Cichocki had previously shined with a gold and bronze performance in earlier races throughout the week.

Team USA men ended the evening just shy of the podium with a fourth place finish in the men’s 4×100 medley relay 34pts. Tom Miazga (Cedarburg, Wisconsin) led the pack followed by Roderick Sewell (Florence, Alabama), Lucas McCrory (Chapel Hill, North Carolina) and Zachary Shattuck to finish the race in 5:31.02.

Top performers Haley Beranbaum (Snohomish, Washington) and Mallory Weggemann (Eagan, Minnesota) finished the Games tied with a team-high five medals each. Other notable U.S. swimmers included Sophia Herzog (Fairplay, Colorado) with four medal wins, Anna Johannes (Colorado Springs, Colorado) with three medals, and both Lucas McCrory (Chapel Hill, North Carolina) and Zachary Shattuck made two podium appearances. Tom Miazga (Cedarburg, Wisconsin), Roderick Sewell (San Diego, California), Ahalya Lettenberger (Glen Ellen, Illinois), Nelya Schasfoort (Avon Lake, Ohio) and McClain Hermes (Dacula, Georgia) also shined after medal wins for each throughout the competition.

Is there a link posted anywhere for results? On the teamusa site they only list medal counts.
