Summer Sanders Gets Presidential Nod

Summer Sanders, a legend both to American swim fans and Nickelodeon loyalists, was named to President Barack Obama’s Presidential Delegation for the Olympic Games in London today.

This group will join First Lady Michelle Obama in attending the Opening Ceremony, meeting with U.S. Athletes, and encouraging American children to be active in their daily lives.

These Olympics have become a major focal point for Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign to fight obesity by getting more American children active, and she will be joined there by a group of legendary Olympic and Paralympic athletes that includes Sanders.

Sanders is a two-time Olympic Champion, winning gold in both the 200 fly and as part of the 400 medley relay in Barcelona in 1992. That same year, she added a silver in the 200 IM and bronze in the 400 IM.

Shortly thereafter, she launched a very-successful media career, that included hosting NBC’s Olympic coverage, a successful gameshow on Nickelodeon, and even branching out into other sports as the host of NBA Inside Stuff for 8 years.
