STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook swimming and diving team laid claim to 11 event wins in a 174-119 takedown of Siena on Saturday afternoon at University Pool.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Reagan MacDonald (Ottawa, Ontario) earned three individual victories in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.05), 100 freestyle (55.17) and 400 IM (4:39.83).
  • Michal Liberman (Rosh Haayin, Israel) picked up two individual wins and was a part of two winning relays.
  • Individually, Liberman won the 100 backstroke (58.76) and 100 butterfly (57.00).
  • She teamed up with Jessica Salmon (Rexford, N.Y.),  Yurika Tomita (New York, N.Y.) and Emma Waechter (Lewiston, N.Y.) in the 400 medley relay as the quartet notched a winning time of 4:04.32.
  • Liberman along with Waechter, Haille Bogumil (Bradenton, Fla.) and Sara Chin (Long Beach, Calif.) touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.23).
  • Melissa Mungroo (Nanuet, N.Y.) swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.61 and the 200 in 2:31.95.
  • Wins also came from Maddy Enda (Chino Hills, Calif.) in the 1000 free (11:00.65) and Caroline Dunn (Brookeville, N.Y.) in the 200 back (2:13.42).
  • On the boards, Valerie Reiter (Howard Beach, N.Y.) was second on the 1-meter with 170.05 points and Stephanie Reiter (Howard Beach, N.Y.) was third with 160.45.
  • On the three-meter, Stephanie Reiter was second (185.25) and Valerie Reiter was third (147.90).

UP NEXT
The team will travel to compete against fellow America East squad Vermont next Saturday, Nov. 9. Action in the pool is set to begin at 11 a.m.

STONY BROOK, NY – Siena Swimming & Diving (1-2, 1-0) saw three different freshmen win five total events in a loss at Stony Brook Saturday afternoon. Competing against the Seawolves for just the second time in program history, the Saints fell, 174-119, in their second meet of the 2019-20 season.

With the team’s 10 freshman competing in their second collegiate meet, the Green and Gold saw 11 different swimmers post 17 best times, including diving, with upperclassmen Carrie Bonvissuto and Sydney Lautenslager joining in as well.

Bonvissuto placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a new best time of 11:02.47 that shattered a three-year mark, while Lautenslager took down her best 200-yard butterfly mark for the second straight meet, swimming a 2:18.56.

Freshman diver Lydia DeLano led the way for the newcomers in the meet, winning both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with personal best of 221.65 and 245.85 points in each, respectively. The Burnt Hills, NY native became the first Siena Diver to post a win in either event since 2016.

Classmates Reilly King and Rory Kalac joined DeLano in winning events, with King taking home the top spot in the 200 (1:59.38) and 500-yard (5:20.21) freestyle events while posting a best time in each. Kalac won the 50 free for the second straight meet to begin her time at Siena, swimming a 25.44 to do so.

Stony Brook won six events on the day including both the 400-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle events.

Siena is back in action to continue its fall slate on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Saints will host their first of three meets at the Siena Swim Center this season, facing off against Wagner at 1:00 p.m.
