On June 22, 2016 the Australian Olympic Team posted a 360 video on Facebook of the Rio 2016 Olympic Pool. The video allows an up close and on-deck look at the venue.
The venue itself seats 12,500 people. This was a reduction from the original estimated capacity of 13,750 seats.
Back in September, 2015, Facebook launched the 360 video. 360 video is compatible with computer, laptops, and other mobile devices. Simply use your mouse or your finger to change the angle. 360 video allows a bunch of still frame pictures to become a virtual reality experience.

The first meet in the new pool, the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy (Brazil’s National Championship and primary Olympic Trials meet), was hosted in April, but was closed to only family members of the participating athletes. That means that the first spectator meet in the facility will be the first session of Olympic swimming in August.
I don’t like that NBC and other apps make you log in and require a paid subscription. Select TV’s olympic guide is way better since they made it free. Go to selecttv.com and click on the link in the top right.
Yes hopefully they discount the obstructed view seats. I would still buy those tickets if I was on a budget or the option was to not get a ticket otherwise. I am under the impression its more of an open air facility with no ac or heating and Fina complained and wanted some fans to make sure there was enough ventilation. I think there is a chance it could be a little cool in there for some of those late evening final swims
I suggest bringing a book or perhaps some crossword puzzles if you’re sitting behind one of those 4 cylindrical pillars.
That was maybe too negative…..It really does look spectacular.
I still wish it were indoor.
I believe it is an indoor facility. In the pictures it looks like the top is open, but I think they can open and close those airways.
