Christopher “Crispy” Barton, a current high school senior from Sarasota, Florida, has committed to swim for Division I La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Barton will graduate from Riverview High School in spring 2020 and join the Explorer’s class of 2024.
Barton is a current year-round swimmer for the Sarasota YMCA Sharks along with swimming for his high school team at Riverview.
According to his Instagram, Barton said:
“Very ecstatic to announce my commitment to La Salle University! I can not be more proud to further my academic and athletic career at an institution as prestigious as this one! I’d like to thank my friends, family, and of course coaches for getting me to this point! Go Explorers! #neverlost”
With his current best times, Barton would have placed just outside of scoring finals at the 2020 Atlantic-10 Championships with La Salle.

- 200 IM – 1:58.12
At the Atlantic-10 Championships this year, the Explorers placed 4th as a team.
Barton will begin his swimming career at La Salle University beginning fall 2020.
