Sancov Scratches 50 Free to Focus on 200 IM at Jr Nats

2017 SPEEDO JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Terrapins Swim Team’s Alexei Sancov was the big scratch for the last finals session of Junior Nationals in Long Island, NY. Sancov was tied for 16th in the 50 free with his 23.90 this morning, but he scratched out of the event, leaving Andrew Trepanier of South Metro safely into the B final. Sancov will still be swimming tonight, as he’s slated to race the A final of the boys 200 IM.

Meanwhile, there were only three other scratches for tonight. In the girls 200 IM, Julia Menkhaus of SwimMAC bowed out of the C final, while in the boys 200 IM, Pitchfork Aquatics’ Jarod Arroyo took himself out of the B final.

For the girls 1500 and boys 800, the top 8 will race in a final heat tonight. The boys 800 stays intact after prelims, but Scottsdale’s McKenzee Gordon scratched the 1500 free, moving Waves Bloomington’s Eliot Kennedy into the final heat.
