San Jose State Takes Down Nevada In Season-Opening Relay Meet

SAN JOSE, Calif. –  The 800-yard relay team of Amelia SnyderReka KovacsEla Freiman, and Zsofia Musnay took first place with a time of 7:44.59 to lead the San José State swim and dive team in their 61-48 win against Nevada.

  • During the 400-yard medley relay, Freiman recorded a personal best in her 100-yard freestyle split with a time of 52.57.
  • Freshman Ashley Jackson had a split of 30.46 in the 50-yard breaststroke to record the ninth-fastest time in SJSU history.
  • Lais e Silva recorded the fifth-fastest 50-yard backstroke in SJSU history with a time of 25.41 during her split of the 3 x 50-yard backstroke relay
  • The 200-yard freestyle relay team of e Silva, Mya Azzopardi, Kovik, and Dalton Sickon finished first with a time of 1:36.51.
  • Silva, Azzopardi, Snyder, and Kovacs won the 500-yard relay with a time of 4:37.86.
  • The 3 x 300 relay team of Kovacs, Muzsnay, and Snyder won the race with a time of 9:05.01.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will head to Fresno, Calif. to compete at the Chick-fil-A invite from October 6th-7th.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Nevada swim drops season opener at San Jose State finishing with a score of 61-48.

Nevada secured first in half of the events and had an impressive start, securing wins in the first three events. Yasmin PerryOlivia Stevenson, and Caitlin Smith raced in Nevada’s A group in the 3×50 butterfly relay with a time of 1:17.79. Another strong race from the Pack came in the 3×50 backstroke relay composed of Nevada’s A Scarlett FerrisMolly Von Seggern, and Yasmin Perry finishing first with a time of 1:18.08 and the B group following closely behind with a time of 1:22.67 with Anslee DickersonColette Berkenfield, and Katie Schwarze. Nevada’s next first place finish came in the 3×50 breaststroke relay with Sara MihalicCampbell Deringer, and Evie Wood with a time of 1:31.69.

Coming off the break, Nevada saw third and fourth place finishes until A group, Audrey BullSara Mihalic, and Olivia Stevenson finished second in 3×300 freestyle relay with a time of 9:16.48. Nevada’s A team, Scarlett FerrisYasmin PerrySara Mihalic, and Evie Wood had a solid finish in the 4×100 IM relay with a time of 4:00.03. Nevada’s A team composed of Colette BerkenfieldMolly Von SeggernOlivia Stevenson, and Evie Floate, finished the meet with a first place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.60. Nevada closed the meet with a score of 61-48.

Nevada swim will be back on the road at UC Davis on Oct. 21 taking on the UC Davis Aggies at 12 p.m. and the Cal State East Bay Pioneers at 2 p.m.
