JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter’s University swimming & diving programs had a strong showing in a dual match at Pace University on Saturday to close out the 2019 portion of the calendar year. The men’s team topped the host Setters by a nearly 50-point margin, while the women were edged by just 13 points.

Top Performances
- Justine Drake posted a score of 123.68 in the 1-meter diving to claim the first Peacock victory of the day.
- The women’s quartet of Natalie Davis, Devyn Hantgin, Amelie Essmann and Noelle Sprenkle earned a first-place spot in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.68.
- The men’s also boasted a first-place win in the 200-yard medley relay, with Michael Spark, Dylan Dela Cruz, Troy Pina and Martin Le Pays du Teilleul clocking in at 1:40.15.
- Junior Marie-Christine Geck came in first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:04.71 and first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.53.
- For the men, Thomas Granet came in second and Ferran Martinez came in third for the 1000-yard freestyle relay with times of 10:10.78 and 10:48.57 respectively.
- In the 200-yard freestyle, Yann Le Gall had a time of 1:46.82, putting him in first place for the race.
- Efrat Marom earned a second place win for the women’s team with a time of 25.46 in the 50-yard freestyle.
- In the 50-yard freestyle, Andrew Galarza emerged victorious while Troy Pina came in second having times of 22.49 and 23.64, respectively.
- Brian Coughlin also finished first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.90.
- Amelie Essmann posted a win for the women’s side in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:02.70.
- Troy Pina also came in first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.01.
- In the 100-yard freestyle, Andrew Galarza won the event with a time of 47.23, while Yann Le Gall came in second with a time of 49.13.
- Natalie Davis had a first place win in the 100-yard backstroke, having a time of 1:00.67.
- Martin Le Pays du Teilleul placed first in the 500-yard freestyle, with a finishing time of 4:35.90.
- The men dominated in the 100-yard Breaststroke, with Dylan Dela Cruz, Brian Coughlin and Thomas Granet taking the top three spots of the race.
- The men’s quartet of Yann Le Gall, Martin Le Pays du Teilleul, Andrew Galarza and JT Funari placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay and had a time of 1:32.38.

Both programs will travel to South Florida at the start of the new year for the South Florida Winter Training Classic at Florida International University in Miami.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Competing for the final time in 2019, the Pace University women’s swimming and diving team tallied a 120-107 win over Saint Peter’s on Saturday.
Junior Leigha Kosakowski (Selkirk, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) led the Setter efforts, tallying a trio of wins against the Peacocks. She began the afternoon with a top time in the 50-free (25.41) before placing first in the 100-breast (1:11.73) as well.
She capped off her day by teaming up in a triumphant 200-free relay. Pace’s squad of Kosakowski, Joana Krause Massaguer (Premia de Mar, Spain/Institut Premia de Mar), Cristina Rosario Perez (Maunabo, Puerto Rico/Woodside Priory School), and Jana Ciric (Nis, Serbia/Gimnazija “Svetozar Markovic”) came in with a top time of 1:44.84.
One of the Blue and Gold’s other top events featured a 1-2 finish in the 200-free. Daniela Lusuriello (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) raced to a low mark of 2:06.84 while Katherine Devaney (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Eastchester) followed with a time of 2:07.36.
Annabel Keppel-Palmer (Kent, England/Maidstone Grammar School) and Mikaela Merolesi (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) also picked up individual victories on Saturday. Keppel-Palmer touched the wall first in the 200-IM (2:17.25) while Merolesi posted a top score (159.23) in the three-meter dive.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In their final meet of the semester, the Pace University men’s swimming and diving team was defeated by Saint Peter’s on Saturday by a score of 136-89.
Sophomore diver Patrick Dwyer’s (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) top score in the three-meter served as the highlight of the day for the Setters. The Tomkins Cove, N.Y. native posted an NCAA qualifying mark of 325.13. Dwyer also earned a score of 219.38 in the one-meter to sweep both diving events.
Junior Filip Turecky (State College, Pa./State College Area) put forth a solid afternoon of his own versus the Peacocks. The Pennsylvania native touched the wall first in the 100-back with a mark of 54.20. He also placed second in the 200-free, coming in at 1:47.28.
Joshua Lozano (Helotes, Texas/O’Connor) also earned an individual win on Saturday, posting a top time of 10:10.12 in the 1000-free.
In one of the closest finishes of the day, sophomore Samuel Gibson (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrew’s) placed second in the 100-fly (55.05). Gibson also posted a third-place effort in the 50-free, clocking a time of 23.87.
