Rockwood Swim Club sprint standout Anna Miller has given her commitment to join the Missouri State Bears. Miller is a Winter Junior National Qualifier who has placed as high as 5th in the 100 free and 2nd in the 50 free at Austin Futures, along with a 7th place finish at the 2016 NCSA Junior National in the 50 as well. Miller was also a part of Rockwood’s Region VIII Record 400m freestyle relay at the Mizzou Sectional this summer, when she combined with Lauren Votava, Jordan Stout, and Claire vanBiljon to finish in 3:49.63.
She has been a USA Swimming Academic All-American for two years and is hoping to pursue a degree in Business. She will be joining former Rockwood teammates on the Bears’ roster, as Phillip Willett, Sydney Zupan and Conner Ripp who all trained together under Region VIII Coach of the Year Mary Liston are current members of the Varsity Bears squad.
Miller will be a contributor immediately for the Bears who were unseated from a long championship streak after the Saluki’s of Southern Illinois University managed to clip them by a half point for the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. Miller’s current times would have landed her deep in the A-final for several events, including the 50 free in which her time would have unseated the 2016 Champion and will play a major part in future relay success for Dave Collins’ Bears.
“I chose Missouri State because the team made me feel so welcome when I visited! It felt like home. I can’t wait to swim for coaches Dave and Chelsea. Bear up!”
