Day 4 Prelims Heat Sheet

It appears to be a very similar list to the past two days of scratches as Trenton Julian and Penny Oleksiak have again scratched their events after having done so yesterday as well. Oleksiak, the 2016 co-Olympic gold medalist in the 100 free, dropped the event where she was the #2 seed. Joining her departure from the event are the French/Cal teammates Mary-Ambre Moluh and Lilou Ressencourt, both of whom scratched on Day 2 and 3.

Julian drops out of the 100 free, where he was the #17 seed, and will miss the 200 IM, where he was the #3 seed. The Men’s 200 IM sees three of the top eight scratch as both #2 seeded Tommy Neill, who has scratched every event, and #6 seeded Luca Urlando. Don’t fear, however, as the recent PSS record-setter, Urlando, is still entered in the morning session. The NCAA record holder in the 200 fly has opted to swim the 100 free, where in the psych sheets, he ranks as the #9 seed.

Urlando isn’t the only swimmer to drop out of a top 8 spot this morning as the men’s 200 back 4th seed Jack Dahlgren has opted to contest the 100 free, where he is seeded 8th on the psych sheet. Last night’s runner-up in the 200 breaststroke, Carles Coll Marti, has dropped the 50 breaststroke, where he too was the 4th seed. Instead, he will attempt to conquer the 200 IM, where he was seeded initially 5th but now finds himself 3rd due to the scratches mentioned above.
