The men’s 100 breast duo of Felipe Silva and Joao Gomes, who both could battle for a podium finish in Rio, got in a practice run at this meet. Silva worked on his back half speed in the race, charging to a quick 59.90.

International Olympians Tune Up with Wins at Orlando Sectionals

Last weekend’s Orlando Sectionals saw some international stars tuning up their races before they head to Rio to represent their respective countries. One of the biggest swims of the meet came in the 200 back, where Matea Samardzic broke her own Croatian record to win the event in 2:09.11.

Pickrem, Castillo Pick Up Wins on Night 3 of Austin Sectionals

Mauro Castillo, a swimmer for the Texas A&M men’s squad, swam the 100 breast/100 fly double tonight. He won the 100 breast with a 1:03.39 over Tristen Disibio (1:04.46), giving him a successful sweep of the breaststroke events after his 200 breast win last night.

2016 Swedish Nationals Day 4: Sjostrom and Alshammar Blitz 50 Fly

Sarah Sjostrom left the field in her wake in the 50 fly finals today, winning the race in a blistering 25.07. Now six-time Olympian Therese Alshammar came in 2nd with a 25.78, the only other swimmer to go sub-26 in the race.
