Pair of Owls Earn NCAA Zone Cuts At FAU Pre-Conference Diving Invite

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The FAU divers competed in the pre-conference diving invite against FIU and Indian River on Saturday. The final meet before the conference championships was highlighted by a pair of Owl divers earning NCAA Zone Cuts in Alicia Mora and Michael Cannatelli.

Mora earned a score of 240.55 in the platform dive to record the zone cut. The junior from Madrid, Spain, also tallied a score of 318.80 to finish in third out of 11 divers in the 3-meter.

Also earning a pair of NCAA Zone Cuts was Michael Cannatelli. Cannatelli, a senior from Clearwater, Florida, dove to a 350.05 in the platform dive as well as a 367.20 in the 3-meter. His finish was good for first place out of six divers in the 3-meter.

Selina Staudenherz took third in the 1-meter dive and finished with a score of 240.80. Staudenherz, a sophomore from Vienna, Austria, also claimed sixth in the 3-meter dive with a 273.95 score.

Also competing in the 1-meter was Alexa Atherholt and Maya Cusumano, who placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Atherholt tallied a score of 210.90 and Cusumano finished with a score of 163.85.

The Owls will now shift their focus to the conference championships. The men’s team will compete in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championship from Feb. 16-19, while the women’s team will compete in the Conference USA Championship from Feb. 23-26. Both of those meets will take place in Lynchburg, Va.
