STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women’s swimming team opened its 2019 campaign on Saturday afternoon when it hosted Cal State East Bay for a dual meet at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
Pacific claimed victories in 12-of-14 events en route to a 168-94 win over the Pioneers.
In the opening event on the day, the 200 yard medley relay, Pacific’s top foursome — freshman Jessica Clark, senior Semaj Walker, senior Taylor Hosmer, and sophomore Allie Emery — finished first at 1:49.50.
Senior Brigid McNally had a stellar day in the pool, claiming victories in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:37.96), 500 yard freestyle (5:09.46), and the 200 yard IM (2:11.09).
The Tigers’ sophomore class also had a strong day with Emery claiming wins in the 50 yard freestyle (24.68) and the 100 yard freestyle (54.87). Kelsey Lloyd was Pacific’s top finisher in the 200 yard breaststroke, while also finishing second in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Emery and Lloyd also teamed up with seniors — Hosmer and Angela Gagliardo — for the 400 yard freestyle relay. The Foursome posted a time of 3:40.17.
In her collegiate debut, Clark also recorded an individual win in the 200 yard backstroke (2:11.01). Clark also clocked a second place finish of 1:01.82 in the 100 yard backstroke. Fellow rookie Rilie Krieg won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.46.
Hosmer won the 200 yard freestyle (1:55.72), while junior Elina Rosario had a victory in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:05.96).
The Pacific women’s swimming and diving programs will return to the pool on October 18-19 with the swimmers hosting their annual Pacific Invite and the divers traveling to the CBU Lancer Diving Invite.
