Nova Southeastern Hires Mike Kuzma to Fill Vacant Coaching Position

Midway through the 2013-2014 season, NCAA Division II powerhouse Nova Southeastern has hired Mike Kuzma to fill the vacant assistant coaching position on their staff. That position was emptied on the eve of the official start of the season, when former assistant Ben Hewitt left to take the head coaching job at Division III Depauw.

Kuzma is a 2010 graduate of Mount Union, a Division III school, after transferring from Towson. As a coach, he’s worked as an assistant at Bethany College, the University of La Verne, and as the head coach of the St. Andrews Swim Team in Severna Park, Maryland.

As an athlete, he wa sa two-time conference champion in the 400 IM at Mount Union.

Last year, Nova Southeastern had a total of 47 All-American honors in Division II between their men’s and women’s teams. The men finished 10th at last year’s NCAA Championship meet, and the women finished 15th. For the men, it was their highest ever placing, and for the women, it was their highest-ever point total.
