The Notre Dame women have picked up two verbal commitments for the class of 2014: Alyssa Storino from Connecticut and Nicole Emery from North Carolina.
Storino swims for the Wilton Wahoos Club and will look to add depth the Fighting Irish in the Breaststroke and IM events. A Winter and Summer Junior National qualifier, Storino boasts times of 1:04.14/2:16.45 in the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes and 2:08.03/4:29.66 in the 200 and 400 IM’s. Her 100 and 200 Breasts would have put her in the top-16 at last years Big East Championship behind 4 other Irish swimmers.
SwimMAC Carolina’s Emery will also look to improve the core of IM swimmers the Irish have as she qualified for Winter Nationals in both the 200 and 400 IM’s with times of 2:02.01 and 4:21.18 respectively. She will also look to replace a couple of Seniors in Kimberly Holden and Lauren Scott in the Backstroke events with times of 56.50 and 2:00.27 in the 100 and 200 Back respectively. Both would have placed her in the top-16 at Big East’s. Her 200 IM would have put her in the top 8 and her 400 IM would have just missed qualifying for the A-Final.
“The energy generated by the coaches and team is electric,” Emery said of her decision. “I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to be apart of the tradition and family at Notre Dame and compete in the ACC. Go Irish!”
