BOSTON – The Northeastern women’s swimming & diving team (7-2) celebrated Senior Day and its final 2024-25 season home meet with a win over Stony Brook, 209-65. The Huskies took first place in all of the events scheduled.
- Senior Erin Murphy earned wins in both diving events for Northeastern. She started with a first-place finish in the 3M Dive after scoring a 330.15. In the 1M Dive, she scored a 307.20 to sweep the diving boards in her last home meet at Barletta.
- In the 400 Medley, Northeastern’s A-Team of seniors Kate Cosgrove, Stella Urness, Hannah Seward and graduate student Caroline Mahoney touched the wall at 3:52.46 to win the event.
- Junior Anna Verlander (1:58.37) edged out her teammate, sophomore Mary Nordmann (1:58.89), by .52 seconds in the 200 Free to take first place.
- Cosgrove added another win to her senior day, swimming the fastest time in the 50 Back with a 27.12. Urness followed with her first individual win on senior day, setting a time of 31.23 in the 50 Breast.
- Freshmen Kate Kerber (2:12.18) and Peyton Knightly (2:14.92) were the only Huskies to compete in the 200 Fly, swimming the fastest times.
- Sophomore May Bradburn swam a 23.87 in the 50 Free to take top honors. She continued with another fastest time in the 100 Free, touching the wall at 52.47.
- Verlander added another top finish in the 200 Back, finishing at 2:06.17, nearly three seconds clear of the next closest swimmer.
- Junior Elisabeth Bendall and senior Nicole Linell were the top two finishers in the 200 Breast, swimming a 2:25.75 and 2:28.31 in the event.
- In the 500 Free, sophomore Bella Busconi took top honors after swimming a 5:14.94.
- Seward capped off her last meet in Barletta with a top finish in the 50 Fly, recording a time of 25.37.
- Urness rounded out the Huskies’ afternoon with the fastest time in the 100 IM, finishing at 1:00.47.
- Northeastern celebrated 14 seniors and graduate students, all leaving their mark on the program. From being a part of the highest-finishing team since joining the CAA to setting program records, their impact and legacy will always be remembered.
Next up, the Huskies take the Boston Winter Open, hosted by Boston University, from February 7-8. The competition will take place at 6 p.m.
