Winter Juniors qualifier Jordan Mintz of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, has made a verbal commitment to swim for the Gardner-Webb University Runnin’ Bulldogs.
“I chose GWU because of the great community at the school, amazing coaches that care about the swimmers, and a fantastic team of motivated guys and girls! When I got to campus and met everybody I felt right at home.”
Mintz is a senior at Middle Creek High School in Apex, North Carolina. He placed fifth in the 100 breast (58.56) at 2015 NCHSAA 4A State Championships, and also swam breast on Middle Creek’s medley relay. Mintz also swims for Harnett County Aquatic Club and achieved Winter Juniors cuts in the breaststroke at the Greensboro Futures Meet this past summer.
Mintz shared with SwimSwam, “This senior year I am adding the 200 and 400 IM’s to my breaststroke events. I had a good first meet back already, in September, where I broke 1 minute in my 100 breast and 2 minutes in my 200IM,” which are his lifetime best in-season times. Mintz’ top events are:
SCY | LCM | |
200 breast | 2:06.49 | 2:26.50 |
100 breast | 58.45 | 1:06.88 |
200 IM | 1:58.20 | 2:18.60 |
50 free | 22.60 | 26.06 |
100 free | 49.46 | 56.98 |
Mintz will join fellow-commit Brandon Chason in the Gardner-Webb class of 2020.
