Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
North Carolina high school state champion Reece Ramseur is set to swim for Davidson College beginning in the fall of 2025.
“I am so grateful to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Davidson College! I would like to thank my family, Coach Ron, and my teammates for their support throughout this process. Also, thank you to the coaching staff at Davidson for this amazing opportunity! Go Wildcats.”
A senior at Greensboro Day School, Ramseur has competed for her school’s varsity swim team for the past three seasons. She currently trains year-round with the Greensboro Swimming Association, where she primarily specializes in free, back and fly, and will be sticking close to home when she heads off to Davidson in the fall.
At the NCISAA Division 2 State Championship in February, Ramseur helped the Bengals secure two victories in the relay events. She led the team to a championship title in the 200 medley relay, posting a season-best time of 28.11 on the backstroke leg, and helped bring home a second title in the 200 free relay by turning in a split of 25.31.
The competition also saw Ramseur claim the runner-up spot in both the 100 back (59.77) and 100 fly (59.22).
Ramseur’s most recent competition was the Southeastern Meet of Champions in early March, where she enjoyed a series of tremendous personal performances over the course of the weekend, earning a second swim in three races. Ramseur posted lifetime best times in the 200 free (1:59.31), 100 back (58.55) and 200 back (2:08.58). She also turned in season-best times in the 50 back (28.09), 50 fly (26.19), 100 fly (57.77) and 200 IM (2:14.50).
Best Times SCY
- 50 free – 24.51
- 100 free – 53.49
- 200 free – 1:59.31
- 100 back – 58.55
- 200 back – 2:08.58
- 100 fly – 57.29
- 200 fly – 2:14.47
A Division I Mid-Major program, Davidson competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference, with the Wildcats placing 6th at the conference championships in February. To earn a second swim at the competition, it took times of 23.46/51.54/1:52.35 in the 50/100/200 free, 56.09/2:02.83 in the 100/200 back and 55.76/2:04.14 in the 100/200 fly, putting Ramseur outside the cutoff in each of her top events.
On the team itself, Ramseur is poised to rank 3rd in the 100 back, 4th in the 200 back and 100 fly and 5th in the 200 fly, although that does not account for the other incoming freshmen.
Currently set to join Ramseur in the pool this fall are Elizabeth Palmer, McKenna Smith, Ellery Bracall, Frances Bohner, Julia Pisano and Caroline Furbay, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
