NC State’s Mumma, Nevalainen to Compete at World University Games

RALEIGH, N.C.- Rachel Mumma and Lotta Nevalainen of the NC State women’s swimming and diving team are set to compete at the 2015 World University Games, held in Gwangju City, South Korea, on July 3-14.

 

For Mumma, a senior from Harrisburg, Pa., competition will begin Friday as she will represent the United States in the one meter dive.

 

In December 2014, she earned a selection spot in her respective event at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. In May, she earned her official spot on the team, marking the first diver in Wolfpack history to compete at the World University Games.

 

For Nevalainen, a rising junior, she will represent Finland at the competition. She is slated to swim in the 50 and 100m backstroke, as well as the 50 and 100m freestyle events.

 

The Imatra, Finland, native will begin competition Sunday as she swims the 100m free, followed by the 100m back on Monday, the 50m back on Wednesday and the 50m free on Thursday.
