American Paralympian, and USC Trojan commit, Ian Silverman, has broken the S10 World Record in the 400 long course meter IM on Saturday at the RVA Richmond Races: a meet held in conjunction with a U.S. Paralympic Developmental Training Camp.
Silverman swam a 4:53.24, which just snipped the 4:53.39 that American Kevin Paul did back in 2010.
He also won the 100 free (55.95), 200 free (2:02.56), and the 200 IM (2:30.22) among 6 wins on the two-day event. He adds this 400 IM World Record to previous marks in the 800 and 1500 meter freestyles.
Other swimmers at this meet include rising star Alyssa Gialamas, who was a 48.81 in the 50 free and a 1:40.23 in the 100 free. That 100 time is only about a second-and-a-half off of her lifetime best.
Three-time Paralympian Jessica Long from the NBAC training group was a 1:09.0 in the 100 free and a 1:10.6 in the 100 fly. That 100 fly time was the second-best of her career, just three-tenths of a second behind what she did to win gold at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
Cortney Jordan had one very good swim, and one swim that wasn’t quite as good. She swam a 1:17.71 in the 100 free, just a second off of her best time.
And finally, Paralympic champion Anna Eames was a 1:05.94 in the 100 free and a 1:14.54 in the 100 fly. She had a light year in 2013, but the S10 swimmer will be happy with that time for a January swim.
