Early on Monday morning, Swimming Australia announced that Meagen Nay would be pulling out of the Commonwealth Games due to ongoing shoulder problems: problems that it appears will have her out longer than that.
While the issues for Nay on her left shoulder have been ongoing, the specific aggravating incident was a partial dislocation at a training camp in Cairns a few weeks ago.
Nay tells us today that she is considering undergoing surgery on the shoulder, which would have her out for some time. At 25-years old, however, she would still have time to recover fast enough to make a run at her first Olympic medal in 2016, when she would be 27.
