Multiple National Records Fall During 400 IM In Kazan

The eighth day of prelims at the 2015 FINA World Championships were shorter than the others have been, but they weren’t without a number of records. The only individual events of the day were the men’s and women’s 400 IM, where the pressure was on to make finals because only the top 8 swimmers advanced.

The first record to fall was the men’s 400 IM Turkish record. Alpkan Ornek lowered the Turkish record set in 2007 by Deniz Nazar at 4:24.66 with his time of 4:22.72. He finished 27th overall.

Richard Nagy broke another record in the men’s 400 IM, lowering his Slovak record to 4:16.37. Nagy finished in 12th place, lowering his previous record from 2014 of 4:18.66.

On the women’s side, Nyugen Anh Vein lowered her own Vietnamese record in the 400 IM. She finished 10th this morning with her time of 4:38.78. She set her previous record in 2014 at 4:39.65.

The only other events contested after the men’s and women’s 400 IM were the heats of the men’s and women’s 4×100 medley relay.
