#MotivationMonday: Cal Women In The Weight Room (Video)

by Retta Race 3

November 16th, 2015 College, News, Pac-12, Training, Video

Get some motivation for your Monday by getting a glimpse of how the University of California women’s swimming team gets it done in the weight room.

Hosted by Cal’s Strength & Conditioning Coach, Joel Smith, the athletes make pull-ups, squats and sit-ups look easy, performing all of their routine’s challenges with big, bright smiles on their faces.  That means it must be the beginning of the workout, right?

Some of those camera angles were a bit suspect. We don’t need to sexualize and objectify CAL – their success speaks for itself.

Hahah. That seems very far fetched. I honestly dont know which part of the video you are referring to. Anyway, a little back story behind some of the videos of Cal women’s swim team. The student athletes have a video series called ‘Between the Lanes’ in which they film themselves. These are usually filmed with GoPro, which may be the source of confusion with respect to the camera angles. These vids are just student athletes filming themselves having fun. I believe Eva Greene and Maija Roses started the team blogging last year.
