Women’s Recap
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women’s swim team closed the dual season against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon, winning 196-64 on Senior Day inside the Klotsche Natatorium.
With the win, the Panthers improved to 7-0 in duals on the season, the first time since 2016-2017 that the team was undefeated. Against the Pointers, Milwaukee claimed 13 individual victories along with eight runner-up finishes.
“We want to congratulate our seniors,” head coach Kyle Clements said. “They have put in years of hard work and dedication and have done nothing but represent our team and university in the best way possible. As a program we ended our dual season on a high note today. The women finished their dual meet season undefeated for the first time since 2016-2017, and the men finished with a winning record for the first time since 2012-2013.”
Angela Kordik had a busy day for the Panthers, collecting a pair of individual victories along with a runner-up finish. Kordik placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:28.52 and tied Riley Melendy for first in the 200 IM at 2:13.45. She also was runner-up in the 100 breast (1:05.99), finishing just behind Makaila Scheiblein (1:05.93).
Skylar Ruggles also tallied two individual wins on the day, opening with a win in the 100 backstroke at 57.58 before following that with a victory in the 200 back at 2:03.96.
Nhia Caras added another win to her freshman season, touching the wall at 23.89 in the 50 free to finish first. Kelen McDaniels placed second in the event with a time of 24.58.
In the 200 free, Sydney Dahl placed first at 1:56.9s with Meghan Jagdfeld closed behind for second at 1:57.95. Megan Greenley (53.26) finished first in the 100 free, while Natalie Hey was second at 54.12.
Three other Panthers took home individual wins, including Bella Passamani (2:10.39) in the 200 butterfly, Sasha Gesner (5:12.25) in the 500 free, and Molly Meland (58.88) in the 100 fly.
Antoni Haupt posted the top time of the season in the 1000 free, finishing second at 10:37.13.
The team tallied a pair of relay wins, including new season-best time in the 200 free relay, Hey, McDaniels, Cassandra Hutchins, and Nhia Caras posted a time of 1:37.24, improving upon the previous season top mark set in yesterday’s dual against St. Thomas.
Milwaukee will conclude its season at the Horizon League Championships, which begins Wednesday, February 16 in Indianapolis.
“We are now solely focused on Horizon League Championships,” Clements said. “We’re looking forward to finishing this year off on a fast note.”
Men’s Recap
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men’s swim team closed the dual season against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, earning its third consecutive win 172-88 on Senior Day inside the Klotsche Natatorium.
The Panthers recorded 10 individual victories in the dual, along with seven runner-up finishes.

One day after collecting a pair of individual victories, Jay Jensen added three more to bring his season total to ten. Jensen opened the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle at 1:43.10 and followed it up with wins in both the 100 free (47.17) and 200 IM (1:55.19).
Brady Basile touched the wall just moments after Jensen in the 200 IM, finishing second at 1:55.54. Mason Schoof finished runner-up to Jensen in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.50.
Hayden Christiansen (52.67) and Ben Huynh (52.99) were the top two finishers in the 100 backstroke, posting strong times. In the 50 free, Ben Lorenz and John Ruan were barely separated, with Lorenz winning with a time of 21.54. Ruan was close behind at 21.62.
Jonathan Kollen placed first in the 1000 free, touching the wall at 10:07.43. Jackson Ahrens finished runner-up with a time of 10:17.73 in the same event.
Four other Panthers earned individual victories, including Robert Petersen (1:56.72) in the 200 butterfly, Travis Hull (2:11.33) in the 200 breaststroke, Vince Chiappetta (4:46.94) in the 500 free, and Zach McClellan (51.69) in the 100 fly.
Milwaukee recorded a pair of relay wins as well, including a new season best time in the 200 medley. The quartet of Ben Huynh, Sam Hauke, Jacob Weber, and Lorenz raced to a time of 1:34.53 to finish first. In the 200 free relay, Ruan, Ahrens, Kollen, and Lorenz placed first at 1:25.57.
Milwaukee will conclude its season at the Horizon League Championships, which begins Wednesday, February 16 in Indianapolis.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point swimming team competed in their final meet of the regular season against Milwaukee on Saturday. For the women, UWSP finished with a score of 64 and UWM finished with a score of 196. For the men, UWSP finished with a score of 88 and UWM finished with a score of 172.
Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:37.13. Pilecky also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.43.
Kasey Fris (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.14. Fris also finished in third place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.09.
Anna Johnston (Rosemount, Minn.) placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 1:01.97.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Julia DeGroot (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly), Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North), Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther) and Haley Dees (Normal, Ill./West) took third place with a time of 1:41.23. Ernst also finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.56.
Vandenberg took fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.30.
Rose Hanson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.14.
For the men, William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick) and Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) finished first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 58.36 and 59.60 respectively. Miller also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.79.
Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.81.
Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.89.
Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) finished in second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.31. Young also placed third in the 200-yard IM with a time 1:58.78.
Ethan Otto (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) took second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:54.72.
The relay team of Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon), Buhler, Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and Miller took second place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.09.
Rhys Gibbs (Colgate, Wis./Arrowhead Union) finished in third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.72. Gibbs also placed third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.20.
In two weeks, the Pointers will compete at the WIAC Championships in Brown Deer, Wis. The meet will start on Wednesday Feb. 16 and run through Saturday Feb. 19.
