WHEATON, ILL.- The Milwaukee women’s swimming & diving team returned to action on a quick turnaround to matchup with Wheaton (Ill.) Saturday afternoon, putting together an impressive meet as the 2024 portion of the dual schedule came to a close.
The Panthers dominated the leaderboard, winning by a score of 157-62, to moves them to 2-1 on the season.
“Saturday was a good end to our fall dual meet season,” head coach Kyle Clements said. “We were able to race some of our ‘off’ events that we don’t get to swim in a standard dual meet, but we will have to swim in a championship format. Getting those reps against another good team does nothing but help us in the future.”
Milwaukee impressed all day, finishing in the top spot in 10 of the 11 swimming events, with seven different individual winners.
The winning started early in the first event, taking the top four spots in the 200 medley relay, with the winning team finishing in 1:48.68. Milwaukee also finished with the top three teams in the 200 freestyle relay, the first one with a time of 1:38.26.
Natalie DiProspero had a huge afternoon, capturing first place in the 1000 (10:51.43) and 100 (53.72) freestyle, as well as helping the 200 freestyle team with their win. In the 1000 freestyle, the Panthers ended up finishing with the top five spots in the event.
In the 200 freestyle, Grace Hudson claimed the top spot (1:55.67), while Elena Zippel followed her up in the 50 freestyle (24.60) touching the wall first as well. Closing out the sweep of freestyle events, was Johanna Edgren (5:15.06) in the 500.
Moving to the 100 breaststroke, Hanna DeGrace took care of business moving through the event in 1:08.96. Maddi Hayashi continued the dominance in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 57.93. Christiana Brooks rounded out the winners in the pool taking first in the 100 backstroke (58.25)
Clements finished saying. “The team continues to swim faster and faster even though we were on a back-to-back on the road, which is a good sign going into the House of Champions meet that is a three-day meet.”

WHEATON, ILL.- The Milwaukee men’s swimming & diving team was right back in the pool Saturday, claiming victories in 10 overall events against Wheaton (Ill.) Saturday afternoon. The Panthers put together a strong effort to run up the leaderboard, winning by a score of 149-68.
The win moves them to 1-2 on the season.

Milwaukee had an outstanding balanced effort, finishing in the top spot in 10 of the 11 swimming events, with eight different individual winners.
The dominance started early claiming the top four spots in the 200 medley relay, winning it with a time of 1:34.08, they then closed the meet winning the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.5).
Kicking off the individual events Konnor Pilger grabbed first place in the 1000 freestyle (10:06.7), followed by Gunnar Seversen in 200 freestyle (1:44.83), touching the wall first as well. Next was the 50 freestyle, which was taken by Charlie House reaching the finish in 21.15.
In the 400 individual medley, Jay Jensen ran away with it touching the wall in 4:08.14. Victor Kostov was next in the winner’s circle, taking the 100 backstroke in 51.92. Caleb Carlisle continued his fantastic weekend, winning the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.35. Closing the winners in the pool was Kevin Soltys in the 100 backstroke reaching the finish in 53.44.

Wheaton, Ill. — One week after starting the 2024-25 season away from home, the Thunder swim teams got the chance to compete inside Lederhouse Natatorium for the first time this fall as Wheaton welcomed the UW-Milwaukee Panthers to town for their annual non-conference dual meet. The Division I Panthers captured team wins on both the men’s and women’s side on Saturday, with a 149-68 count in the former competition and a 157-62 tally for the latter. Tess Boyer and Isaac Eilmes were Wheaton’s two standout event winners on the day as both swimmers set impressive time marks in the pool.
On the women’s side, Boyer topped the eight-swimmer field in the 400 yard IM with a blistering pace of 4:31.59, currently the second-fastest swim in the event in all of Division III this season. Fellow sophomore Kara Grace Hess secured a runner-up placement in the women’s 100 yard butterfly thanks to a 1:01.18 mark, completing the event more than a full second before the third-placed Milwaukee challenger.
Freshman Jac Cummings secured a second-place finish in the men’s 200 yard freestyle thanks to a time of 1:47.66, before Eilmes made his mark in the 400 yard IM with a runner-up placement of his own. The sophomore’s finals time of 4:14.72 from today’s meet was the 12th-fastest register in Division III this season at the time it was recorded and now sits 40th in the country at the time of writing. Cummings was also the top Thunder performer in the 100 free, swimming to a fourth-place showing in the nine-man field via a time of 48.53. Eilmes then accounted for the lone event victory for the Wheaton men’s team this afternoon in the 500 yard freestyle as a result of his 4:49.49 showing. Jed Ritchie came in third in the same event, 1.5 seconds behind Eilmes. Josh Elsen had the best showing for his team in the men’s 100 yard breaststroke, touching the wall after 1:01.11 to place fourth in the crowded 12-swimmer field. The Thunder men’s swimmers closed out their program with a 200 yard freestyle relay race, and the quartet of Ben Coley, Cummings, Sam Yonan, and Kaden Gannon earned a second-place finish, edging out the Milwaukee group in third by only .03 second.
The Wheaton squads will return to Division III competition next Saturday when they travel to Michigan to renew another annual non-conference dual meet, this time against the Knights of Calvin University. The meet is scheduled for a 1 PM (Eastern time) start next weekend.
