Michael Andrew Brushes Up On His Canadian Slang

SwimSwam caught up with Michael Andrew at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre during the second Ontario Junior International to see just how much Canadian slang he had picked up on his second visit to the city.

Canadian reporter Mitch Bowmile threw some curveballs at Andrew as he asked him to define some Canadian slang and certain Canadian items.

Although Andrew stated right at the beginning of the interview that he hadn’t studied, Andrew proved to do just fine in defining some key Canadian words. Assumedly, Andrew learnt these words on deck at OJI where plenty of Canada’s top junior athletes were present to compete alongside him.

With the results in from this test, Andrew is on the right track to being able to speak Canadian like a true hoser. Throw a couple “oots” and “aboots” in there and Andrew could convince even the most Tim Hortons drinkin’, hockey lovin’, plaid jacket wearin’ canuck that he knows his stuff about the red and white.

Watch the video above, and test your knowledge of Canadian slang alongside Michael Andrew and Mitch Bowmile.
