Lauren Harper, from Blue Wave Swimming in Brandon, FL, has verbally committed to stay in-state to swim for the University of West Florida (UWF).  Harper adds some sprint freestyle power to head coach Andrew Hancock’s Argonauts, as she is a 50y and 100y freestyle specialist.

While representing Newsome High School, Harper’s best time thus far in the 50y freestyle came at the 2013 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Swimming Championships, where she clocked a swift 24.58 to earn 13th place in the event.  Most recently, Harper competed in the 2014 edition of the FHSAA Swimming Championships, where she swam the 50y freestyle in a time of 24.80 and the 100y freestyle in a time of 53.30.

Harper logged best times in the 200y freestyle (1:56.85) and 500y freestyle (5:10.19) at the 2013 Florida Spring Senior Championships to offer some distance versatility to the UWF women when she joins the team for the 2015-16 season.
