Kinsman, Blocksidge Set British Age Records on Day 5 of British Champs

2023 BRITISH SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

A pair of British teens took down national age records at the 2023 British Swimming Championships on Saturday.

16-year-old Blythe Kinsman earned a third-place finish in the 50-meter backstroke with a huge lifetime best of 28.32, dropping almost half a second off her previous-best 28.74 from prelims earlier in the morning. Before today, her best time was a 29.12 from last month, making her the sixth seed on the heat sheet.

With the big drop, Kinsman became the new owner of the 16-year-old British age group record, lowering Lauren Cox’s previous record from 2018 (28.42) by a tenth of a second.

Kinsman also placed sixth in the 100 back on Wednesday with a 1:02.47.

13-year-old Amelie Blocksidge continued her siege on the British age record books, placing fifth in the 400 free with a 4:14.74 to beat her own standard from last month (4:15.06) by a few tenths.
