We are a children’s summer day camp looking for swim instructors to teach American Red Cross Swim lessons to our campers.

Ideal candidates are: lifelong swimmers, or have had previous swim team or swim teaching experience.

We have teaching curriculums set, so we have a plan for each swim group/level, but we are also looking for you to bring ideas and share your swim expertise.

Our swim facility consists of 4 heated pools all located in the center of camp. Each pool is designed to fit a specific age / grade range. Each pool has its own staff and supervisor. Campers swim twice a day receiving a 30 minute, instructional swim lessons on their first time to the pool and a 30 minute, recreational swim on their second trip to the pool.

Swim instructors work with the same campers all summer long. Since most campers are here six, seven, or all eight weeks you have time to get to now your campers as well as time to see the results of your lessons.

Transportation is provided for all NY City Staff. Buses meet in Manhattan. Paid position.

Ramapo Country Day Camp is located on the Bergen (NJ) / Rockland (NY) border. A private day camp nestled on over 35 acres of woodlands, rolling hills, streams, trails, and open space, Ramapo offers campers an unforgettable camp experience in a country setting unequaled in its natural surroundings.

With our meticulously maintained grounds, campers enjoy a well-balanced program of sports, swimming, creative and performing arts and an endless list of outdoor adventure challenges. . . all on Ramapo’s first class facility.

Ramapo is located in Airmont, NY on the Bergen Cty (NJ)/ Rockland Cty (NY) border. We are near the NJ towns of: Ridgewood, Upper Saddle River, Montvale and the NY Towns: Suffern, Chestnut Ridge, and Nanuet. Ramapo is easily accessible via: the Garden State Parkway (Exit 172), Rt 17 (Saddle River / Woodcliff Lake Exit), NY Thruway (Exit 14B), Rt 287 and Rt 59.

Ramapo Country Day camp is located about 25-30 minutes from the George Washington Bridge (Manhattan).

Our campers come from all over Manhattan and Bergen County, NJ. They are here for six, seven or eight weeks of fun in the sun. They participate in a wide variety of activities ranging from all sports (sports leagues) , swim, arts & crafts, hands-on-science, woodworking, and scouting to archery, zipline treetop trails, horseback riding, dirt track carts, robotics, and bungee and trampolines, and much more.

Our staff of specialists who run our activities, is made up of teachers from northern NJ: Bergen, Passaic, Rockland County (NY) as well as New York City. Our counselors are college students who accompany each group of campers and assist our specialists. We also hire international teachers from such countries as: Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Holland, Finland, England, and others. Most of our staff live within a 45 minute radius and either commute in or work as paid bus supervisors.

Our staff is made up of: Specialists or teachers from Bergen Passaic (NJ), Rockland County (NY) as well as New York City who run our activity areas.  Counselors are college students who accompany each group of campers and assist our specialists. We also hire international teachers from such countries as: Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Holland, Finland, England, and others.

Camp Dates: July 1st to August 23rd (39 Days)
Monday to Friday
Camp will be closed on Thursday, July 4th

We have worked hard to create a facility and staff-working environment that is enjoyable, creative, positive, and perfect for the summer. You will enjoy coming to work each day. We are looking for people who see spending a summer at camp as something they “get to do”, not “have to do”.

The staff member we want is someone who would naturally look to do more rather than less. 

Interviews are held here at Ramapo Country Day Camp, in Manhattan a few times each month, and via Skype. You will interview us as much as we will interview you.

Interviews are held here at Ramapo Country Day Camp where we would give you a tour of the facility. We also interview in Manhattan (NYC) a few times each month. If an in-person interview ultimately is not possible we can interview via Skype.

You will interview us as much as we interview you.

Please call for more information on salary. Salary range listed is from college instructor to pool supervisor. We do pay extra for a WSI certification. We also run the certification course here.  Lunch is included for staff. We are also a tipping camp and instructors working with the same campers all summer can also earn a significant amount of extra money. Bus supervisors also get paid, plus tips
