Head Coach – The Woodlands Swim Team

Job Description:

The Woodlands Swim Team (“TWST”), located in The Woodlands, TX just north of Houston, is searching for a Head Coach with a proven track record to lead and direct our year-round USA Swim Program in order to take us to the next level!  TWST is a USA Swimming Silver Medal Club and has achieved Level 4 Club Recognition.  We have a 300+ roster including State, Sectional, Junior National, National and Olympic Trials qualifiers.  The team swims at the Conroe ISD Natatorium which is a state of the art aquatic center rivaling many college natatoriums featuring a 65 meter indoor pool with dual movable bulkheads.  Additionally, the team boasts a family culture rich in tradition that includes coaches and volunteer parent committees working towards the success of the athletes in a competitive and encouraging environment.

The Head Coach will lead all aspects of the program including:

  • Coaching supervision including hiring/firing and coaching assignments in conjunction with the Head Age Group Coach
  • Crafting a Team vision
  • Writing, reviewing and running workouts
  • Season plan creation and review
  • Tracking athlete/team performance
  • Meet bids and maintaining the season meet calendar
  • Meeting attendance including Parent and Board
  • Budget and financial review
  • Fundraising/Swim-a-thons
  • Directing and review of administrative functions/team
  • Scheduling and updating practice/pool time with leaseholders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Energetic, dynamic and positive leader who is  effective in an independent environment and possesses strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills
  • Experience with a wide range of swimming levels (learn-to-swim through Olympic Qualifiers)
  • Bachelor Degree
  • ASCA Level 5 certification preferred
  • Member in good standing with USA Swimming and current on all background checks and certifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of stroke technique progression, dryland progression, training progression and taper strategies for all levels with the ability to effectively communicate and teach all to swimmers/coaches/parents
  • Strong core values that include integrity, hard work, patience and respect
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Team Unify, Team Manager, Meet Manager, Main Set and  other technology/software useful for developing swimmers
