Fresh off a pair of wins at the Santa Clara Grand Prix, outgoing Wolverine senior Connor Jaeger returned to Michigan to one more collegiate award – the University of Michigan’s Male Athlete of the Year crown.
Jaeger was honored with the award for the second-consecutive season. The distance man successfully defended his NCAA 1650 free title as a senior, and also played a key role on Michigan’s U.S. Open record-setting 800 free relay at the Big Ten Championships. Jaeger also won Big Ten titles in the 500 and 1650 frees, defending both titles from the season before.
This is the cherry on top of a highly-lauded college career. Jaeger was also named Big Ten Swimmer of the Year in his final two seasons and led the Wolverines to conference championships in all four of his collegiate seasons. In the classroom, he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was named first team Academic All-America earlier this year.
Jaeger was honored alongside Female Athlete of the Year Joanna Sampson, a women’s gymast, who also won the award for a second-consecutive season. You can read the full Michigan press release on the awards here.
