IU’s Parratto is top platform diving qualifier, USC & Texas place one up in team battle

The top three teams in overall points will be entirely absent from tonight’s platform diving A final. Cal and Georgia placed no divers in the top 16, and Stanford will only be represented by Lilly Hinrichs, who qualified 9th.

At this point, the top 3 seem pretty firmly entrenched in their current slots. Hinrichs will give Stanford at most 9 points, which probably won’t affect them in their pursuit of Georgia for second.

There’s a whole host of teams still contending for spots 4 through 9 or so, and a few of them should get nice diving boosts. USC, sitting 7th after last night, put Haley Ishimatsu into the A final. Meanwhile Texas, currently 8th, have Samantha Bromberg sitting second after diving prelims.

And just outside the top 10, Indiana (11th) and Minnesota (13th) got boosts on the platform, with IU’s Jessica Parratto taking the top qualifying spot and Minnesota’s 3-meter champ Yu Zhou making the A final.
