The top Brazilian 13 and 14 year old swimmers competed in the long course at the “Campeonato Brasileiro Infantil de Natação” or the Brazilian Youth and Junior Championships in Vitoria. The competition (the Mauricio Bekenn Trophy) was won by the Corintians team that collected 428.50 points over the four days of competition. The team not only put up impressive performances during the competition, but showed tremendous class at it’s completion.
The team dressed in black and wore black bands around their arms to honour 13 year old Pedro Nicolas Sena da Silva who was set to compete in the championships, but in a tragic event passed away after being struck by a car on November 12th. The pictures of the team can be seen here.
Rounding the top three teams were the Pinheiros who earned 278.50 and Fluminense who collected 251 points.
