Leigha O’Connor from Clermont, Florida has committed to swim at Colorado State University beginning in the 2022- 2023 school year.

A sprint free and fly specialist, O’Connor swims for the South Lake Aquatic Club and East Ridge High School. As a sophomore and junior, she was a consolation finalist at FHSAA 4A State Championships in the 50 free (23.96/23.94) and she finished 11th as a junior in the 100 fly (57.53).
Representing the South Lake Aquatic Club at Florida Swimming Senior Championships last March, O’Connor placed top-16 in the 50 free (24.17), 100 fly (57.44) and 50 fly (26.17).

O’Connor will be an immediate impact player for the Rams when she suits up in the fall of 2022. She would have been one of the top 5 sprint freestylers on the CSU roster this past season and she would have ranked 2nd in the 100 fly. Colorado State finished 5th of 8 teams at the 2021 Mountain West Conference Championships. O’Connor’s top times would already score at the conference level in the B final of the 100 fly and the C finals of the 50 free and 200 fly. It took 52.44 to make it back in the 100 free.
