Tift County High School rising senior Eden Troxell has announced her verbal commitment to Liberty University for the fall of 2022.
“I’m so blessed to announce that I have made a verbal commitment to swim and study at Liberty University!! It is truly a dream come true to join such an elite program that is only growing! I want to thank my parents, coaches, teammates, and friends for their endless support! I also want to thank Coach Jake and Coach Jessica for helping me with this process and giving me this opportunity!! I can see God working in this university so I can’t wait to see how he works in me over the next 4 years!! GO FLAMES!!”
The Tiftarea Tidal Wave swimmer qualified for Futures in the 500 freestyle and 1000 freestyle, and she most recently competed in the Georgia Long Course Senior State Championships, where she placed twelfth in the 400-meter freestyle and eleventh in the 800 meter freestyle.
Her best short course times are:
- 200 freestyle: 1:53.96
- 500 freestyle: 4:57.65
- 1000 freestyle: 10:16.99
- 1650 freestyle: 17:14.53
Liberty University is a Division I school, part of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.
Liberty tied Florida Gulf Coast University to win the 2021 CCSA Championships. The swimming and diving team was placed on the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team List for the 2021 spring semester.
At those conference championships, Troxell would have placed third in the 500 freestyle and sixth in the 1650 freestyle. She joins distance swimmer Isabelle Gomez in committing to Liberty for fall 2022. Other 2022 commits include Ella Kahn and Malia Francis.
