The Florida Gators went all the way up to Michigan to get their latest verbal commitment, but in Mollie Pulte, they get a versatile talent that fits the Florida Gator mold.
Pulte comes from Motor City Aquatics in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and also swims for Marian High School.
She’s probably best as a freestyler, where she’s convincingly fast over multiple distances, highlighted by a 49.87 100 free and a 1:47.90 200. But Pulte also adds some solid potential in the 100 fly and 100 back that should make her a multi-purpose weapon for coach Gregg Troy based on where Florida needs her in the lineup.
Pulte’s Top Times
- 200 free: 1:47.90
- 100 free: 49.87
- 100 back: 56.57
- 200 back: 2:02.92
- 100 fly: 55.98
- 50 free: 23.63
Pulte joins the new-look Gators, who have been led by sprinter Natalie Hinds and backstroker Sinead Russel in the early goings of 2014 – they’re in their first season without longtime star Elizabeth Beisel. Pulte should help the Gators continue to reshape their identity next season as they battle a tough slate of SEC opponents.
