FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept Marist College this afternoon with the men winning their third straight meet by a 160-140 score and the women winning their third meet overall by a 199-101 score.

The women won both of their relay races on the afternoon with the 200 medley relay taking the top spot with a time of 2:01.0 behind the efforts of Eleonore RembertAlison Sposili, Maggie O’Connell, and Ameila Sicignano. The 400 free relay also took first place by completing the race in 4:01.62 with Sydney ScaliseOlivia ThompsonErini Pappas, and Sicignano representing the Stags.

The men swept the diving competitions this afternoon with Dillion O’Connor securing the top spot in the 1-meter dive and Sam Tonole collecting first in the 3-meter dive. O’Connor scored 247.88 points while Tonole registered 236.93 points through the competition.

Scalise and Pappas also won three events during the afternoon while Sposili was also a multiple winner with a pair of victories. Scalise captured the 200 free (2:08.63), the 100 free (59.45), and the 400 free (4:34.44). Pappas recorded wins in the 200 fly (2:22.02), 200 back (2:17.84), and 200 IM (2:21.98). Sposili added victories in the 100 breast (1:16.49) and the 200 breast (2:42.01).

Eleonore Rembert secured a first-place run in the 100 back (1:04.94) while Maggie O’Donnell secured first in the 100 fly (1:05.71) and Sicignano was tops in the 50 free (27.29).

In the men’s meet, Hans Lim was two-time winner in the 200 fly (2:07.98) and the 100 fly (57.97). Fairfield also presented first-place runs by Joey Nizzardo in the 800 free (8:39.35); Alex Belfer in the 50 free (23.22), Chris Ford in the 100 breast (1:06.85); Jeff Vlass in 200 breast (2:26.01), Joseph Stewart in the 200 free (1:54.75), and Ed Hunt in the 200 IM (2:09.29).

The Stags will have a week off before returning to the pool for the Terrier Invitational at Boston University from November 19-21.

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist men’s swimming & diving team was topped by Fairfield, 160-140, on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sean Doran took first place in the 100 back (59.63). The Red Foxes took the first three spots in this event, with Jacob Macrina in second (1:00.44) and Ahmed Sallam in third (1:00.88).
  • Sallam won the 100 free (52.12), and was also a part of the first-place 200 medley and 400 free relays.
  • Ante Dany captured the 400 free (4:12.53), and was also on both winning relays.
  • Adam Kapusta won the 200 back (2:09.04), and was on the 400 relay.
  • Ethan McCormac took part in both winning relays, placed second in the 50 free (23.42), and third in the 200 free (1:57.07).
  • Christopher Dauser was part of the 200 medley relay. Dauser was also second in the 100 breast and 200 IM, and third in the 200 breast.

  • Marist is 2-2 on the season and 1-2 against MAAC foes.

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist women’s swimming & diving team fell to Fairfield, 199-101, on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Grace Reeves, the current MAAC Female Diver of the Week, again captured both boards. She won the 1-meter with a score of 236.02, and the 3-meter with a score of 241.34.
  • Emma Butzler won the 800 free in 9:21.49.
  • Butzler also competed in the 400 free (tied for second, 4:38.25), 200 IM (third, 2:28.19), and 400 free relay (second, 4:06.85).
  • Jessica Freund placed second in three individual events: 100 breast, 1:16.67; 200 breast, 2:42.40; and 200 IM, 2:27.21. Freund also took part in Marist’s second-place 200 medley relay, which posted a time of 2:05.08.
