Eric Delmonte from Maine Commits to Virginia Tech

Eric Delmonte, one of two Division-I caliber men’s recruits out of the state of Maine in the class of 2014, has verbally committed to Virginia Tech.

Delmonte is a breaststroker, with best times of 58.62 and 2:03.85, respectively.

Everybody in the ACC is fighting for whatever breaststroke talent they can find, as the conference is relatively weak there and there can be fairly easy conference-level points picked up. The Hokies last year had the most success with their 200 breaststrokers as compared to the sprinters, which makes a good fit for Delmonte.

Delmonte swims for the Portland Porpoise Swim Club, the same club that produced Olympian and World Record holder Ian Crocker.

Dont forget the Notre Dame breaststrokers joining the ACC who return 53.1, 53.5, and 1:55.2, 1:56.2 which would have been first and third in both events in the ACC last year.
